JOB TITLE: Sales Applications Engineer

GENERAL DESCRIPTION AND POSITION SUMMARY
Sales Application Engineer of custom web handling machinery based on machine specifications from customers, while working within a team environment consisting of a project manager, electrical and mechanical engineers.

Duties / Responsibilities

  • Help market our business and build customer relationships.
  • Review customer specifications and create a quote.
  • Professional interaction with customers. (Visit, Call, email)
  • Capable of traveling up to 25%.
  • Able to handle multiple projects at the same time.
  • Use Epicor ERP system.
  • Lead meetings and send out meeting minutes, schedules and progress updates.
  • Establish a vast knowledge of web handling equipment and their components.
  • Take ownership of your sales and keep team updated and visible on sales log.
  • Gather vendor quotations for long lead items.
  • Find reference projects for estimating and use CPI calculators.
  • Track and handle changes, in an orderly fashion.
  • Ability to identify scope creep and maintain the project baseline.
  • Provide assistance to and cooperation with other departments.
  • Timely completion of assigned tasks. You may have to work overtime to achieve deadlines.
  • Support the team and customer at factory acceptance test.
  • Support continuous improvement process by evaluating and implementing suggestions.
  • Assure sufficient and accurate communication with project team.
  • Accurately and consistently account for all project quotations, including adders.
  • Complete project analysis of budgeted estimate to actuals.
  • Capable to drill down to the details to find savings.
  • Provide a summary of all projects.
  • Must have a positive, can-do, attitude.
  • Organized.
  • Working knowledge of standard Windows based software (Word & Excel).
  • Engineering concepts related to stress and deflection, metals and metallurgy, platings & coatings, rubber covers, balancing, power transmissions, heat-transfer, fluid dynamics, and web handling.
  • Knowledge of machining and manufacturing processes related to design practices.
  • Knowledge of machine safety standards, and their application.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Ability to evaluate cost /benefit relationships as they relate to design.
  • Ability to work in team environment.
  • Ability to work independently without supervision.
  • Willingness to provide enthusiasm and creative solutions to meeting our customer needs and achieving the company s goals.

  • Working knowledge of SolidWorks and AutoCAD.

Education and Experience
  • Minimum 10 years related experience
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering with a Masters or Minor in Business Management or Administration. Experience in design and manufacturing processes (e.G., fabrication and machining) required. Experience with web handling.
