Superior Resource Group is looking for a Power Systems Engineer for a client located in De Pere, WI . This position is DIRECT .

The Power Systems Engineer designs, develops, and starts up/and commissions a wide variety of power distribution systems.

  • Design, development, and startup/commissioning of a wide variety of power distribution systems.
  • Proactive technical project management communication with customers, always with a copy or informing the Project Manager.
  • Maintenance of the engineering database and all product documentation, including bills of material.
  • Other design engineering and project management tasks as required.
  • Daily updates to project job timesheets and insuring all work is stored on the engineering server before the end of each workday.

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or higher.
  • Minimum of 7 years relevant work experience in electrical power system engineering, working with one or more of the following industry market-applications and technologies:
    • Critical Power (wastewater, data centers, hospitals, air traffic control, etc.)
    • Pulp, Paper, Printing or Forest Products, both process and converting applications
    • Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, and/or Chemicals
    • Metals, Mining, or Minerals (MMM)
    • Food & Beverage Consumer products
  • Experience working with both low-voltage and medium-voltage electrical power distribution applications up through 40kV.
  • High voltage experience is a plus, but not a requirement.
  • Experience designing and implementing active arc quenching systems (fast-acting low-impedance systems) as defined by NFPA 70E 2018 Edition, Annex ) O.2.3(4) and NEC Article 240.87.
  • Experience developing, proposing, and implementing arc flash mitigation strategies, including arc quenchers, differential protective relaying, zone selective interlocking (ZSI), and arc flash protective relays.
  • Experience with modern protective relay applications, including current transformers (CT) sensors and Rogowski coil sensors. GOOSE experience (IEC 61850) is a plus, but not required.
  • Experience with designing, recommending, and implementing high, low and hybrid resistance grounding systems.
  • Experience with managing and delivering power system studies end-to-end, from data collection through final report delivery. Power system study experience should include these five elements:
  • short-circuit evaluation, protective device coordination, arc flash hazard evaluation, harmonics, and load-flow.
  • Experienced and familiar with NFPA 70-2017 (the National Electric Code), and able to identify and make recommendations based on NEC compliance.
  • Experience designing unit substations (MV, transformer and LV), optimized for both reliability and safety.
  • Fully compliant and familiar with NFPA 70E 2018 Edition, Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace; able to pass an NFPA safety certification test.
  • Experience with the selection of power factor correction capacitor (PFCC) and power quality correction (PQC) equipment and applications.
  • Microgrid design experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Experience with the design and application of fast-acting current limiting protectors (CLiPs) is a plus, but not required.
